Wedding seating chart

A wedding seating chart and 3D floor plan

WeddingWire.lk's seating chart lets you drag guests onto tables with set capacities, then place those tables in a 3D floor plan of your hall. Seating uses the RSVP list, so only confirmed guests need a seat. On the day, guests find their table and seat from their invitation link. It is included in every plan, including Free.

How do I make a wedding seating chart?

  1. 1

    Create your tables

Add tables with a name and number of seats — for example “Head table” or “Table 12, 10 seats”.

  2. 2

    Drag guests to seats

Drag guests from your RSVP list onto tables. Party sizes and empty seats are shown as you go.

  3. 3

    Lay out the hall

Place tables, the poruwa, the stage and the dance floor in a 3D floor plan to check spacing and sight lines.

  4. 4

    Share seats with guests

Each guest sees their table and seat on their invitation page, so the welcome desk has fewer questions.

Who should sit at the head table at a Sri Lankan wedding?

Customs vary by family, but the couple usually sits at the head table with the best man and maid of honour, or with both sets of parents. Many couples seat parents and close elders at the tables nearest the poruwa or head table, and keep each family’s relatives together. Our seating chart guide covers more layouts.

When should I finish the seating chart?

Start once most RSVPs are in — usually three to four weeks before the wedding — and finish it a week before, when the venue needs final table numbers. Because the chart is linked to RSVPs, a late “yes” or “no” is easy to adjust.

Why plan the floor in 3D?

A flat list of tables does not show whether the poruwa is visible from the back or whether there is room for the photographers to move. The 3D floor plan lets you set the room size and place tables and other elements so you and the venue agree on the layout before the day.

Questions

Is the seating chart free?

Yes. The seating chart and 3D floor plan are included in every plan, including Free.

Can guests see where they are sitting?

Yes. Guests see their table and seat on their own invitation page — they cannot see where everyone else is sitting.

Can I print the seating chart?

Yes. You can export it to share with the venue and the welcome desk.

Does it work for multiple events?

You can plan seating for your main event and track which guests are invited to extra events, such as the homecoming.
